We have recently had the situation where I checked the wording of our club boat insurance policy in terms of what is meant by coastal and Inalnd waters. We have been told this means we may take the boat out 12 miles but it is not insured for the Isle of Man.
i am wondering what insurers other clubs use and what restrictions are placed on them in terms of distance from the coast and the sorts of premiums that are being paid -
Help would be appreciated on this since we have in the past gone out to wrecks in the Irish Sea unaware that the boat was not insured and also taken it to the Isle of man

Bst wishes

On pleasure craft , which yours is,

Coastal is 3 miles from main land high water mark
Inland is inland of high water mark.

thats stated by my insurance company, i suggest you get your best coxswain to gain his RYA Yachtmasters with a commercial endorsment,,, then see the mileage get higher and costings come downnnnnnnnnnnnn...
