Hi all,

I've just bought a fins, boots and gloves pack from Deep Blue Dive.

I went to my local dive shop and tried on some boots and fins and decided to go for Mares Volo Power fins. In the shop they were £89, I had a look online and saw that DBD had a whole set including Northern Diver 5mm boots and 5mm gloves for the same price.

The gloves that have arrived however are Tribord from decathlon (i've checked again and the website definitely says ND 5mm gloves). Should I be worried about a difference in quality from these two brands?

Tribord is Decathlon's cheapie brand. Nothing wrong with them (as far as I know) for the price they normally sell at. BUT, it would appear that you didn't get what you ordered. Speak to them about it.

You need to check their T & C's. It may be that they reserve the right to supply alternatives. This can be argued against.

Did you pay by credit card? If so, you might be able to get your card provider involved.

To be honest 5mm gloves are pretty much the same. I would say it really depends on the fit.

I have othree gloves and waterproof gloves, the othree ones are to big and they let to much water in, leading to cold hands :-(

Ring them up and check, but Triboard are OK.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the make myself, concentrate on how well it fits you.

A 3mm from one company wont feel the same as a 3mm from another company, and they’ll all be different thicknesses I can assure you. They all add their own layer in the palm of the hand and over the fingers.

I’ve tried several gloves, from several brands, cheap and expensive and so far, the cheapest have been my favourite.
