Does anyone have an tips for firmly securing a boot to a cylinder. Mine seems rather slack and slides off for a nothing. I did consider a few turns of gaffer tape around the the bottom part of the cylinder might help, but I thought I'd check if there was a better way.

That should do it. Can also do a line over the top half on the cylinder half on the boot

I had the same problem with an old 105 and I
did not like the gaffer tape way of fixing the boot
on. I did not like the thought of the sticky tape
on the cylinder. So I put 4 lengths of cord
from the boot (one in each quarter) all the way
up and then tied in a loop around the neck of the
cylinder. I always had a net or mesh on the cylinder
so that hid the cord and gave my cylinder protection.
Cheers ozone

You got in before me. You could also use old cylinder mesh you might have hanging around, IMNSHO that's about the most useful thing that product might be, sort of, good for. :)
An alternative is using careful application of heat, perhaps via a hair dryer, on the boot and then sticking it back on the cylinder. Also works on cylinder mesh if it's too loose.
