After watching the re-runs of 'Diving School' on satellite, i was wondering if any of the students finally made it? Indeed, are there any former students featured in the show who actually made it reading this? --it would be interesting to hear also if the paddy chap - Brian, or indeed the manager 'Dave Walsh' has in fact left the dive scene completely?

I am not sure about the students, but then would they be reading this as they were all on a commercial diving course. They are probably sat around a rig somewhere, or in a chamber doing some 'more' deco.
As for David Welsh. I can say that he is no longer operating from Fort Bovisands, but then no one is. That is apart from the Joint Service Sub-Aqua Diving Centre. I was there last week teaching for them and am back to sunny Bovisands next week on another course. It is a terrible shame that people let Bovi get to the state it is in now. It had and still has a great deal in its favour. It's potential as a base for a diving school isn't wasted on the military as they are fully booked by personnel from all 3 services for the foreseeable future, even if the effect of the civilian school closing has has limited operations.
It was quite funny going back to Bovi a couple of weeks ago, as I too have watched the reruns of Dive School, the same toilet graffiti still adorns the walls, none of it is very complimentary of Dave Welsh. Although the military cannot sell Fort Bovisands it is actively looking for tenants to take on the lease and use the facilites, I believe the University are interested but, as with everything else I have written, don't quote me!!

Yes, good slip check out JSSADC site for pictures. Seems a shame that national dive ceneter No 1 is no more. A loss caused by the pursuit of profit no doubt. My brief case still carries the DIVE BOVI sticker and the memories of a few good nights in the BAD LADS bar still linger.
