I rarely post on these forums preferring just to read, but I haven't seen any mention of the passing of a good friend to diving and in my opinion a great boat skipper.
Sadly Ian Douglas of Sovereign Diving out of Seahouses passed away recently after a sudden illness.
Ian is survived by wife Ailsa who runs the finest B&B in seahouses and sons, one of whom is Andrew who runs the lodge and one of the boats.
I have been diving for ten years and but for the odd year have dived the Farne Islands with Ian many times.
Having experienced many skipper I can say without hesitation that Ian was one of the best, certainly the best skipper I have ever had the pleasure of diving with, and I for one will miss him.
My deepest sympathy goes to Ian's family.
