Sorry for late notice but diving the Danton this weekend. A few places left.

A unique opportunity to see this French battleship before it becomes a real tourist attraction. Currently it remains unlicensed and thus you can still take any souveniers without any legal concern.

Rib leaves Nice pier at 10 am Saturday. Just turn up. Bring plenty of air :)

no offence like, but why would you want to "take souvenirs?", why not leave them for others to see and enjoy?! Or am i being too nieve?!

Bring plenty of air :)

hmmm, according to the BBC it at 1000m. I'm guessing it's a fare way from Nice to Sardinia in a RIB or any other vessel.

A French battleship sunk in 1917 by a German submarine has been discovered in remarkable condition on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea. The Danton, with many of its gun turrets still intact, is sitting upright in over 1,000m of water. It was found by the Fugro geosciences company during a survey for a gas pipeline between Algeria and Italy. The Danton, which sank with 296 sailors still onboard, lies 35km southwest of the island of Sardinia. Naval historians record that the Danton's Captain Delage stood on the bridge with his officers and made no attempt to leave the ship as it went down............

OK sorry but couldn't resist. When my neighbour - in all good faith - sent me the news "french battleship found, guns intact" I got all excited. It wasn't till later I saw "1000 ms".

Why do they not consider us divers more when sinking these things :D

One interesting aspect is the impact she made on the seabed and yet, I guess due to very soft mud, she remains completly intact. Who knows perhaps one day they will bring her up.
