It is with great regret that we inform you that unfortunately the Scubadoo shop has had to close its business due to the economic crisis that the country is suffering at the moment. We have struggled to break even with the internet prices around and overheads of running a retail outlet in this economic climate and we had no other choice but to wind up the company of Scubadoo Trading Ltd.
ALL outstanding kit purchases will be delivered. If you haven't been contacted it's because we do not have details at the moment as our network was offline. We will be delivering outstanding kit from 20th January. The email address shop@scubadoo.net is now up and working and we will be going through the emails in date order. PLEASE rest assure that we have not done a "runner" with anyones kit and do not listen to the gossip you hear, There are many people out there that thrive on other peoples bad fortune and cannot resist a dig but for those that have a genuine gripe on finding the shop closed we fully understand but we really had no choice as we could not afford to keep it open

Sadly, I think we may well see more go this way this year. :(
I imagine the current financial mess and the general response to not spend just provided the last bit of pain for an already troubled business and is the natural outcome of us divers making use of the LDS for fills, smaller items, and for trying things out but then looking for the cheapest online deals for high cost items.
............but then looking for the cheapest online deals for high cost items.
That rings very true, I would urge all dive shops to get their websites up and running, up-dated and full of all kit they can buy and sell.
Whilst I like to support my local shop, they taught me afterall, The website has several pages with nothing but headings.
As I spend the day at work and like to dive / spend time with the wife and kids at weekends, shopping online in the evenings is the easiest option.
I would stll buy from my local shop if I could access all the choices on-line, at least then you have a comeback and without postage costs it can still be profitable for them (they don't need to slash the prices too much).
I don't work in retail so don't know the costs involved with such a set-up, but if you look at KENT DIVING they seam very competitive and I think i've spent £250-£300 with them in the past 3-4months (good site & service).
Its worth a shot!
Good luck and happy diving!
