Went to Kenya many moons ago and dived off Malindi; it was fantastic. Need to go again so has anyone visited recently and got any do's and don'ts recommendations particularly for hotels/dive organisation. I am looking for something that is not too up market ( I don't like the big hotel atmosphere), comforatble, friendly and runs a safe and enjoyable diving operation, preferably on the beach.

Basically I want good diving, good food, good and plentiful drink and a safe comfortable and friendly environment. I don't want much do I?

Many thanks and hopefully I will get a few replies

Adios
John

Hi John

U might get a better responce in the travel club section, but i did Kenya a few years ago now. I was just South of Malindi at Turtle Bay, Whatamu (about 60 klicks North of Mombassa. We stayed at the Turtle Bay Hotel which was very good as in basic but comfortable twin cabins.

Run by 2 ex-pats with a school/dive centre run by an Ex Pat Rhodesian. All very good, diving in the National Park U would have done before.

Whale Sharks, White Tips, Reef Sharks, Wahoo, Hugh Rays, Congas, Turtles and just about everything going.

E-mail me if U want more info, i will have to dig it out of the attic.

Regards

Paul
