I'm a dive leader and Open water instructor
I have a fairly old form for a cmas qualification card
on it it says to get an instructor card you need to be a minimum of a advanced diver?
was wondering if this was still the case and if so why?

when you can be an instructor at dive leader?

Thanks Katie

Easy awnser because it's actually pictured on the page.
BSAC OWI = CMAS 2* Instructor.

Costs a bit more than your old card I expect.

Hi the SAA issue's the CMAS cards and I think you find to get the CMAS card for the Openwater Instructor you need to be a Dive Supervisor ie a BSAC Advance Diver.
Thanks

Nope, the SAA issue the cards on behalf of BSAC using BSAC
grades. "We are now able to offer either Diver or Instructor
Qualification Cards with the equivalent CMAS Star Rating on the
reverse."

BSAC OWI = 2* CMAS and to get OWI you only need to be a Dive
Leader not Advanced.

Just to add further confusion to this debate........

I am a BSAC DL/OWI....so not entitled to CMAS 2* Instructor Rating until I complete my AD course.

However, I am also a PADI DM, which qualifies me as a CMAS 3* Diver (and is equivalent to BSAC DL).

Now...I can't get a BSAC Q-Card with the CMAS 2* Instructor because I haven't got AD, but I have the equivalent level CMAS qualification through PADI (except it doesn't count as 3* through BSAC interpretation?).

So, Can I not get a CMAS card because I am a BSAC OWI (2* Instructor) and a PADI DM (3* diver)?

Confused? I am.
