Hi everyone,
My branch has a group of 9 SDs who have just completed the dive planning and marshalling theory and need to take (and pass!)the DL theory exam before they carry out the dry practical session.
It is up to several years for some of them since they did O2, PRM etc and they are a bit anxious about being examined on these topics (as they haven't done all the theory in one recently organised "programme" like as for SD and OD/CD).
The exam is scheduled for April 28th, with a revision session planned for 14th. My request is, does anybody have any prepared powerpoint presentations designed to aid revision in any/all of the required DL topics which they wouldn't mind letting me have?
Or any other suggestions to assist them with their exam prep?
Thank you! Lindsey.

Hi Lindsey,
You do not say which DL sylabus you are working to ?
Is it pre or post 2002 ?

I had a similar situation recently- I told all concerned to revise and relax. We then did a test paper. It was interesting to note that most students knew more than they thought.
I then evaluated the papers and then worked out personalised tution for those that needed help. Most people fell over on tables and in particular, altitude diving questions, so the personilised tution was not always per individual student.

Bottom line, once we worked out the strengths and weaknesses we
concentrated on the weaknesses, using standard training material appropriate to the grade.

I thoroughly reccomend the Rescue First Aid SDC for anyone in this position. You get an O2 admin / PRM refresher and a bunch of new and advanced first aid skills. If you have enough people interested it might be worth talking to your regional coach.

If your SDs have completed a Nitrox course they may be pleasantly suprised at how much of the O2 stuff they know.

Just a thought

Hi Lindsey

I suggest that your DO/TO print out one of the exam papers from the Instructor Manual CD and change some of the questions/answers to create a mock exam, or extract questions from all three papers and mix them into one paper to provide a mock paper. Also you could make them sit the sports diver papers as similar questions come up in the DL papers.

Lyndsey, if you want a RFA SDC, you only have to ask. I am not the Area Coach for your club, but only 15 miles away and I am a RFA instructor. We would have to arrange as a regional course as can't be done as an in-house SDC
