Hi everyone,

Tony Groom, author, commercial and ex-navy diver will be giving an informal talk at the University of Reading on behalf of the Reading University Subaqua Club. He willbe speaking about his remarkable and well-travelled life in the fields of professional naval and civilian diving, and Tony is a man with some tales to tell. He joined the Navy in 1975 and embarked on a dramatic career in underwater bomb disposal, including working under fire during the Falkland’s conflict. He then joined the commercial diving world, and has spent time on North Sea oil rigs on deep-saturation salvage missions, working at depths greater than 200m.

This is one of only a few talks he has given. His next appearance will be at BSAC’s Diving Officers’ Conference, and you can purchase signed copies of his book at the event (there’s a DVD too).

The entry fee will be donated to the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.
