It's great to see these ideas coming forward and at times being taken seriously. It maybe too late for polar bears and the Maldives but at last the ball is rolling.
However a holiday on an energy island :confused: I wouldn't want to be a travel agent selling that one :)

I reckong large scale offshore wind and tidal would be great for diving - big area where nobody cna fish 'cos of al lthe cables and machinery - great for marine life, almost marinereserves by default. Bring 'em on :-)
The thing in strangford loch is actually in and generating electricity as of last year.. It way on James May's 'big ideas' the other week.

one of the best areas for fish is on top of power and oil lines, we caught tonnes of fish in the north north sea trawling just off the bottom in these areas
the islands would act as a fish gathering point as well and in the long term a place for benthic species to be found in open water
More 'Ocean power' stuff..
If the government is going to spend us out of recession, why not put some tax money into this sort of thing and help wean us of middle eastern oil?
