If giving a hands-on lesson to dive leaders and above, relating to First Aid at Sea, what sort of subject matter would you cover, and what would be the format of your lesson for a 15min presentation.

All the nasties that can happen at sea, i.e.

?X Broken bones
?X Cuts, anything from diving knife cuts to fingers etc in a prop
?X Head injuries from falling over or being struck by the boat
?X Burns, chemical, fuel, exhaust, flares
?X Bites and stings
?X Sea sickness
?X Gas poisoning
?X DCI

The key point that I would emphasise would be that all you can do is to provide first aid to prevent the situation from worsening until you can get the casualty to the emergency services or vice versa as well as emphasising the need for a decent VHF radio

Recovering an unconscious person into the boat and then providing AV/CPR on the boat, while recovering the other divers after a recall - think about all the scenarios and get them thinking about it.
