I've been thinking of going back to Reefci in Belize, however, looking at the prices GVI appear to be half the price and getting to Cancun is so much easier that Belize (no smiling US immigration faces to endure).

Second I heard at the dive show (from a former Reefci business partner) that they may be in financial trouble - unpaid bills etc. Hope not as I fully support what Polly is doing.

do you know what the diving in Mexico is like in general ?
I known there was a huricane out there in the not too distant past, how will this of effected the diving as I:)

That's one of the things with research type diving you don't know exactly what you are going to get. However, from my experience any dive out of the norm is interesting, even when its across mud (makes the navigation a bit challenging).

Sorry to be all doom and gloom but check out somewhere else - GVI have major issues with the amount of diving days they have in Mexico (all the boats have to pass through very narrow channels in the reef system so even the slightest breeze kills any chance you have of getting in the water), together with plague proportion insect infestations at their bases.

Also, see if you can find any of the data they have collected published ANYWHERE.....

The sea is pretty good. I believe the diving off Cancun and Cozumel is meant to be superb.

Mind you, we're off to dive the caves in March and I'm really looking forward to that.

Too late for me as I've already booked my flights, but how do yo uget to Cancun without going through the US? KLM and Air Canada were several hundred quid more expensive.
