I sat at the club's AGM on Wednesday thinking that all was going well.

Reports were in, including mine, Officers were being proposed and voted on, soon be back to the bar then it came to DO, not a problem, good bloke doing it and I was up next to confirm that I'd stay as equipment officer

Then the chair proposed me,! The DO seconded it, the club voted and they all looked and me as the chair asked if I was happy to except.

Buggered for next year now - got to behave and show and example - damn.

I suspect you did it for the same reason that most of us do these things. There is a job that needs doing and it is better if it is done well. You believe you can do it well enough and so do the rest of the club. I suggest you accept the complement and do a good job.
