Having completed my ITC some time ago (in 2000) i'm now being hounded by my club to get on and sort out the rest of my instructor training (i need hassling as i've 'been meaning' to do it for years)
But, with the change in the instructing programme i'm wondering if my ITC is the equivalent of the IFC or do i need to resit on the IFC course?
If anyone knows please help
Thanks

Email Jim Watson at HQ. I think you will find the ITC will be accepted as equivelent but do confirm it with Jim. You will find Jim's email address on the website under HQ contacts.

Hi Hannah,
Good news that you have decided to move on! You don't need to attend the IFC again unless you feel that you are out of touch. The next step is to attend the one day Open Water Instructor Course. If you look on the web, you will see when they are and the locations.
Hope this helps, But as Mike says - Jim will guide you through the path.

Hi Hannah,
As Sophie rightly states your ITC is given an equivlance to the IFC.
However, during these winter months you can do other things to become an Open Water Instructor prior to doing your OWIC.
1. Make sure you get you Dive Leader to do the examinations.
2. Practice all you learnt in the ITC in your branch, theory, classroom and practical.
3. Do your Theory Instructor Examination and presentations.
4. Do your OWI course - when the water is warmer!
5. Practice the skills you will learn on the OWIC.
6. Do your Practical Instructor Examination
Hey presto you will be an OWI

Thanks guys (generic term to include girls)you're great. I got an email from Jim Watson confirming that you were all correct in what you said.
I've completed my Dive leader a while ago and only have 2 marshallings left (on a boat) for the old advanced diver. I've been practicing in the branch for all those last 4 years so i've had a fair bit of practice, i just lacked the confidence [in teaching] until the other week when i did a pool session and felt really proud of how well i did it.
The good news is, my husbands doing the IFC at the end of Jan so i can't let him beat me to becoming an OWI!!
The challenge is set..........
Thanks adain
