Hi all
Had a great day yesterday at show, as I said in my last post we took Jill Myers down with us, who for those that dont know her was on BSAC council many years ago and started the Guilimots snorkeling branch, she had some amazing stories about her early diving days(Hans and Lotte Hass and meeting Prince Charles) and I was fasinated, she has done so much in her life and given so much time and energy to BSAC that it inspired me to do more.
I am trying to get her to write a book about her adventures, she used to take dissabled kids on trips snorkeling to places like Kenya many years ago,and was one of the first people to dive Sharm, before it had an airport. She also helped to start the Marine Conservation Society. I know she is mentioned in the BSAC 50 year aniversary book, but it doesnt say enough, she is a hive of information. She was a bit dissapointed as she was looking for some people called the Eatons, I dont know them but I think they have the magazine Dive or Diver, they were not there but had been on Saturday.
Other than diving She was also a message runner in WW1 and has many storys to tell, as I am sure many people do.
I love listening to people who have lived, how about you?.
We should make the most of these people while we can.
It was the first time I have been to the dive show and I was very impressed with the organisation, got a few bargains, a decanter shaped like a cylinder, (def for Whiskey), Self inflating DSMB and a smart T shirt, you have to have the T shirt dont you.

Mark,
Are you Irish? ;) ;) :D
Given that I'm pretty sure you're not American?
What's with this fascination with whiskey? The Scots amongst us, I'm sure, are besides themselves right now yet they have thus far, I really don't know how, managed to contain themselves. :D
Oh, is it that bluddy "American English" spell checker perhaps? It should be confined to that Trash Can in the sky.

Its the fault of the whisky that I spelt it like that, I can only apologise to our Scottish geniuses and I wont let it happen again.

I believe the person you are referring to is Bernard Eaton (Our beloved Editor) :-)). Scourge of the old Beachcomber :p , not of the current modern day imitation . Long time editor of Diver mag. Ex wartime RN Buntingtosser, Mary Rose photographer etc etc.

Thats him Eddie, no offence meant by not knowing his name, I should have but not very good with names.
I think his son was on the Diver stand, does Diver mag organise the whole show Eddie?

Sunny? SUNNY???
BWAWHAHAHA! It happens that I know Seaford/Brighton/Eastbourne well, albeit from a very long time ago. :)
This morning I had to retreat from my porch with my coffee cup and paper because the rising (0700) sun coming over the hillside was a tad too much for my tender skin. Oh, OK, make that "poor old super-sensitive" skin. Thank goodness that, apart from that time of day, the porch shelters me from that sun.
Also washed some clothes early this morning, after I'd finished hanging them on the clothes line (about 0800) I was able to take the first ones off the line because they were already dry. The jeans took a tad longer though.
Sorry, I'll retreat back into my shell now. :D
