Unfortunately, your website doesn't really provide me with the travel information I was looking for.

How on earth do I get there from the UK? I can find plenty flights, but not to Pico - to other islands. it would be useful if you could put up some info on how to get there from the available airports.

Also, it isn't somewhere I have previously considered as a holiday destination - what else might I find to do. Your website talks about whales and dophins etc - but what is there to do on dry land topside?

To get to Pico you have to fly via Lisbon to Haial and then catch a ferry.

Or Ryanair to Oporto + ferry (this is how we will be running our trip)
Or Ryanair to Oporto + fly Sata air http://www.sata.pt/EUA/en/Home/SATA/GrupoSATA/SATAAirAcores/

Slightly off topic, SATA do some really cheap flights to Toronto via Azores!!

Or even better fly Ryan to Santiago de Compostela and stay a few days and do some Galician diving!!
And I will run you down to Oporto in the car (just two hours away).

Thanks Eddie. I suspected that would be the case, but nice to have confirmation.

Flights can be obtained for about £290 return from Gatwick, so it's quite a reasonable cost potential destination really!

What sort of water temperatures? I see a mix of dry and wet suits in the photo's, but no comment on water temperatures on teh website.

(Please take these as constructive sugestions of things to put on your website).

Hi

Its on the homepage
"Visibility around the islands is outstanding, and the water temperature a pleasant 22 -23 celcius making the diving even more of a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Why am I promoting someone elses site:confused:

Chris in flat calm, sunny and 17C (yesterday),,,,,:D

Chris

How long is the ferry from Oporto to the Azores?

It would seem ideal to use your place as a staging post and then not need to fly but I think for most, certainly me, there is more pressure on time than money. And often boats are no cheaper than flights - they just take much more time.

[One possible advantage I guess you could dive just prior to leaving by boat and dry the kit on the deck :) ]

But the Azores certainly seems to be getting up interest. The Azores - the new Red Sea :D

Nice idea - but don't think so!:o Big fish but no corals - very similar to Ascension Island. That being said - loads of potential.

The cost of the week or fortnight is a price that covers the accommodation and likewise and the diving I was doing for the publicity to show how good the diving is! I can do the same price with a whale watching trip thrown in also for the non-diver.

Hope this is ok.. drop me an email and I will send you some more details

Hi Yes thanks for that anyone who does no get critisism does not get better so thanks....the dry suit is ME! was not sure of temp when I went over 1st time and also because you can be in the bar whilst others are still fighting with 5mm. This year I dived with a 5mm and no hood and was comfortable but was late getting to the bar which meant my beer was waiting which is not a bad thing

Hi Chris,

:) :) :) I feel a family holiday plan coming on - how long and how much is the ferry (or flight).

Is there much for small people in Galicia?

Watch out Eddie, I may force you to dive with me at this rate? ;)

best wishes,

Maria

Eddie you better be quick or you'll be too late :D

maria I appreciate your efforts. The info on trekking was most useful as my non-diver loves wondering the country paths. It strikes me the hardest bit of any diving holiday is 'what are the non divers going to do?' :)

Doesn't it make you sick:rolleyes: I want to retire too, the only thing is when I eventually manage it all the pension funds will be in such a state I'll only be able to afford a tent in the back garden and diving in the local duck pond for my diving hols!
