I was wondering if anyone could help me please?
I have been looking on the website for ages about joining BSAC and also about cross over and can't find diddly! I'm wondering if it's possible to cross over to BSAC as a PADI instructor and if so how?
Many thanks for any information.

Pity PADI cannot do a similar cross over to their Instructor from BS-AC Instructor.

What, and lose all that IDC + IE dosh!!!!!!
Seriously, there isnt much comparison between a BSAC 90 min
exam and a PADI 2 day one.

Not quite Terry.
As a cross- over from another organisation the instructor needs to register with HQ for a cross-over pack.
Then attend an IFC.
And then log 12 hours of open water instruction.
This log is then sent to me for verification before being approved as an OWI within the BSAC.

Well if we are being really pedantic he needs to join either a
club or BSAC direct first, then apply for a crossover pack.
It was meant to be a very brief one line description.
Point I was trying to make (badly) was that you didnt need to
do OWIC, TIE or PIE, but just the IFC. Even when doing the 12
hrs you are actually doing the job of an OWI.
What I found quite annoying (when I went for BSAC Inst) was
that although I had PADI AI, which is half of the PADI IDC,
continually assessed and has a full exam. It meant diddy-squat
in BSAC's eyes.

Sorry to be pedantic Terry.
However, I need to point these things out.
I am receiving paperwork from some that are not registered through HQ.
No IFC done etc etc.
So I point it out to avoid duplication.
To your other point:
At least there is an instructor cross-over from other organisations to BSAC.
I do not see any reciprocal agreement with PADI.
I am not going to go into any organisational bashing on this one though!

No but the AI is a two day + theory exam!
I have already lost Dosh through a PADI centre in Saudi in 1987 not forwarding my Dive Master paperwork to PADI HQ! They have had their money from me!

I thought I'd read somewhere that as a BSAC AI you were able to become a PADI Instructor with some sort of a PADI Orientation short course.

Nope. The IOC is part of the IDC (Instructor Development
Course). Effectivly you sit in on the bits of the IDC that you
dont know and miss the bits you do. Most sit through the lot
anyway as a refresher.
But .....
Makes no difference. Everybody has to do the 2 day IE(Exam) at
the end of your IOC/IDC before getting OWSI status.
