I have been approached by a local group dealing with disabled people. I am a BSAC open water instructor and training officer. I cannot find any information as to the training requirements, courses for instructors etc, to qualify instructors to teach the disabled. There is a disabled awareness SDC but this only covers diving with/buddying disabled divers.

Contact HQ on this one Kingsley. The BSAC has quite extensive experience of people diving with varying levels of disability, the NDC has a specific advisor on this subject (sorry - I'm not absolutely sure who!). HQ will be able to advise and provide you with information.

If you're in the Yorkshire area, you can get in touch with Chris Hall care of the link. AS well as being a BSAC Instructor, he's also an IAHD Instructor (International Association for Handicapped Divers)
