Thames Shipwrecks - A Race Against Time

The maritime archaeologist Frank Pope and the historian Tessa Dunlop join forces to salvage the stories of seven craft being brought up from the Thames in one of the biggest operations undertaken in this country. The Dunkirk veteran HMS Aisha and also HMS London from 1660 feature here.

" these golden coloured bricks were only made in Kent and they were found in the Thames on route for London. So we can say for sure these bricks were destined for London"

Outstanding! I hope they get payed well for such insight. Would put Inspector Morse and Columbo to shame

There are hundreds of wrecks in the Thames Estuary which is about 500m from my house, most in depths from 10m to 22m :)

Unfortunately there is also tons of silt and generally no viz :(

Such a shame :(

Interesting program though :)

Hmmmmm! If this was supposed to be underwater archaeology then it was not as I know it. It all went along the lines of - it is very dark and dangerous down there and the diver cannot see much. Ok, we will send him down a strop and see what he comes up with. Then whatever came up was enthused over but was mostly unidentifiable IMHO. I switched off toward the end. Hope the content improves. :o

We do on occasion get a 1-2m of silty viz, if we have divers in who can frogkick then it can be quite interesting, most wrecks are covered in muscles anyway :(
