following on from the who can instruct thread

i have some questions

if somebody has been taught in part or fully by a none qualified instructor, and has obtained there qualification, what is the bsac position on such a trainee

example 1, an ordanary diving member (who has no instructor qualifications) does all the theory lessons for a trainee, the trainee passes all the theory tests and is signed up by the resident instructor

example 2, an ordanary diving member (who has no instructor qualifications) does all the sheltered water lessons, under the direct supervision on a nqi and that nqi signes up the trainee for thoes lessons

example 3,an ordanary diving member (who has no instructor qualifications) does all the theory, sheltered, and open water lessons, and the resident nqi (having total faith in there abilities, or cant be arsed lol,) signes up the trainee for the entire course

now in the 3 examples above is the resident instructor accepting responsability for the none qualified helper, or could the trainee have the qualification recinded?

lase example an ordanary diving member (who has no instructor qualifications) does all the theory, sheltered, and open water lessons, with no nqi approval (say its a small club with no instructors) signes up the trainee
what are the ratificaions of this?

i know of a club that (or at least used to)do example 1

IMHO

The first issue is that if there is an incident during training just about everyone is in the firing line. If once qualified that diver ends up killing themselves the un-qualified teachers and the NQI who signed and the DO that approved the qualification will end up having to answer some very serious questions.

i know of a club that (or at least used to)do example 1

Fine but can the people with these apparently errant qualifications dive safely?

Matt has hit the nail on the head.

In today's litigation society, you can take the chance that nothing will happen, it could come back and bite you in years to come.
