I took some trainees up to Eccleston Delph on Friday as their website advertises late night opening on Fridays.

When we arrived at about 10 past 6 it was closed. I've since phoned and apparently they've given up late nights on Friday due to lack of interest. They're now trying late night opening on Wednesdays instead. Unfortunately for us they haven't got round to updating their website yet.

Personally I won't be visiting Eccleston Delph again without first phoning to make sure that they are opening as advertised.

Dived Delph on Sunday (Nitrox practical). A number of things to note...

1. Opening time do appear to be different to those described on the net, but only really to do with night dives
2. Instructions on how to find state "a small green" - its about 3m x 3m - blink and you'll miss it
3. Max depth is about 22m
4. Take a torch - its very dark in the shadow of the cliff face. Its bl***y dark at the bows of the "big boat"
5. Lots of things to see
6. Easy to park / close to the water, but its a short/relatively steep walk from the water level to the parking level (nothing like Stoney though)
7. For those who live on the East coast, but north of (say) Scunthorpe, its nearer than Stoney or Capernray
8. Seems a relatively decent (but early days) setup
9. ?5 to join (life membership), ?5 to dive
10. Lots of big fish

I think the hairdressers shop is a better waypoint but I guess that could always change. It has been there since I first dived The Delph about 7 years ago.
