Hi All,
I will be going on a family holiday later in the year to Calpe, just north of Alicante, and trying to save some legwork thought I would see if anyone has any recomendations of Dive Centres in the area.

We dived with Club Nautico Les Basetes who are about 2km outside of Calpe but it was some years ago and they may not be run by the same people now. At that point they were a BSAC school too and a British chap was in charge. Anyway, it was a really nice setup and it looks the same now. Its on a great little bay with a beach and there's watersports off the beach too. There's a cafe/bar and I seem to remember it was a good place for the family to spend the time when you are out in the boat. Anyway, the dive sites are pretty close - most of them were around the Gibraltar like promontary at Calpe and quite scenic. One thing I do remember is that there were some really, really marked thermoclines/haloclines around that rock - fresh water runoffs I assume. You would be swimming happily along and then BRRRR hit an absolutely shudderingly cold pocket. It didn't help that you could generally see it coming! We were there in the summer like yourself. I can't remember what suits we were wearing - probably 3 or 4 mm.
Have a look at their website and you will get the idea of the place. They dive from ribs. If its the same, I thought it was a lovely spot.
