Is a full body lycra skin worth investing in?
Will it help against jellies?
Do they look a bit odd if you wearing a shorty over the top?
Just wondering if most people don't bother and just wear the top half rashies instead.

If you're going diving in tropical waters, wear a full body suit. A skin suit at the very least.
SWMBO left the detachable arms off her tropical suit one day off Dubai and got hit by a nasty jelly on the bare left arm. That was 5 years ago. She still has the scars.
It hurt something terrible.

Is a lycra suit or rashie worth it in addition to a full length wetsuit?
What bout protection on the face from jellyfish leftovers or sea lice?

The answer to the first question has to be "if a stinging jellyfish touches your arms, then you'll think a rash-vest/lycra suit was worth it."
And yes, lycra bodysuits are advertised as giving protection against jellyfish. I've got one of these (for sun-protection whilst snorkelling): http://www.stingray.com.au/merchandise/details.asp?productID=251&CatID=5
Gloves, hood and boots would also be prudent - but I personally don't bother because I'd feel a bit foolish dressed like a beach-ninja. If I ever get stung in the face, I may rethink.

Ive yet to find anywhere on the planet warm enough to dive in less than a 3mm full suit anyway.

You've never been to Cuba then. ;)
In water temperature was like a warm bath. :D

Dived the florida keys which isnt a million miles away (well about 60 in fact!).
3mm full suit and was frozen after the 2nd dive of the day. Doing 3 dives a day meant the third was miserably.

Full lycra suits have a number of advantages:
1) They protect against the sun and dry in no time at all - turn them inside out to dry
2) They make sliding that wetsuit on a great deal easier
3) They give total protection against stingers (includes Fire Coral), but only where they cover your body. That includes the (often otherwise) lethal Australian Box Jellyfish
4) They make a great pressure bandage while you're making it back to the boat, as I have experienced
I can't think of any disadvantages at all. Oh, one, if you're that vain, wear them inside out under a suit otherwise the seams will show on your body for quite some time.

A full body lycra gives excellent protection against jellies.
As for looking a bit odd if a shorty is worn over it, who cares so long as you don't get stung. :p
