I have a bit of a problem with BCD sizing, Im really tall and very heavy, but am extremely skinny. I have used a medium/large BCD before with no problem, and found a deal of an almost new ScubaPro Glide 500 BCD thats too good to miss, the only downside is its large.

So my question is, is it possible to modify BCD straps etc slightly, so it would fit more comfortably? Maybe shortening the cumberband a bit so it can reach further and therefore pull tighter?

Thanks

Hi David,

I'm not sure about the Glide 500 model, but I know that on my Glide 2000, the cummerbund is adjustable via a pair of toggles behind the side straps of the harness (next too the backplate.) The 500 may be the same?
However, I've never found the need to make it tight in this way, as it could squeeze when inflated on the surface.
I would be more concerned with the range of adjustment of the shoulder straps, as it is these that really determine the range of sizes a BC will fit.
Again the Scubapro BC's are pretty adjustable in this respect and are generally fairly generous in the range they will fit. If you're tall (i.e. 5'10"-6' ish) then a large should be fine. XL if you're taller than this.

Hope this helps & safe diving!

Cheers,
Mark.
