I dived with an outfit in Simonstown, just outside Cape Town.
I found them on the internet. By taking some of your own equipment it works out cheaper than hiring all theirs (mask, gloves, computer.
We did the Rockeater a wreck at 35m we were buzzed by seals on the safety stop.
I could not do the afternoon dive - the kelp forest
The water is cold 8-10C, but the wetsuit was nice and warm

I also dived the shark cage in the aquarium.
You can also dive the kelp forest tank there as well.

A drive up to Platenburg bay is worth it the water warms up rapidly. Beaching the boat was an experience.

Yes I did the Plett dive which was good fun. did you do any of the dives at Knysna. The wreck of the Paquita and the drift dive through the Heads. A current of about 14 knots shifting God knows how many tons of water and I pick a day when my dive buddies (3 of them) had only 6 dives between them. Needless to say the dive quickly turned into a solo dive but very enjoyable nevertheless. The outfit has offices at the Heads and one of the big hotels in Plettenburg Bay The name escapes me and the whole ish is owned and run by a chap called Ian Venn (venny) who hails from the Surrey area. Well worth a visit.

Hey Mark,

When we went (Aliwal Shoal, Protea Banks and Sodwana Bay) we used 'Dive the Big 5', who also do trips to Mozambique and organise all manner of other excursion, including Safaris etc. AND the cage diving with Whites in and around Capte Town and Dyer Island - here's their cage-diving link:

<a href="http://www.divethebig5.co.za/html/cage.html" >http://www.divethebig5.co.za/html/cage.html</a>

Here's their main link - and they come highly recommended!

Hope this helps and enjoy!

Cheers,
Bren.
