Collins also do a pocket guide to the sea shore, (it has about 4 times the gem book) 352 pages, over 3000 species. ISBN 0-00-219955-6. Mine cost £14.99.

I have a number of identification books and would recommend Paul Naylors book for the photos but the Collins book is more comprehensive eg. Pauls book does not describe the difference between male and female 2 spotted gobies and only pictures males (females do not have pectoral spots) therefore might be misidentified as seperate species!

I have this one and the Great British Marine Animals. Both great books. The Seasearch one also gives an idea of scale and habitat.
On a trip to the Isle of Man this weekend, the Seasearch book was the most popular; while the Great British Marine Animals book was the most comrehensive.
If the Great British Marine Animals isn't comprehensive enough, I've got a copy of this:
http://www.play.com/Books/Books/4-/512632/Marine-Fish-Invertebrates-of-Northern-Europe/Product.html
which covers lots more.
