Has anybody dived in the Seychelles in the first two weeks of August?

I was planning a trip there but understand that at that time the conditions are not very good in the Seychelles. That the currents can be strong, the sea can be rough and the beaches can be awash with sea weed.

Does anyone know how accurate this is?

Hi!
I dived last year on Mahe's East side at beginning of Feb, which was not the ideal season either.

The sea was a bit rough & viz a bit reduced but still managed to get some diving done. I would say that going all that way for not optimum conditions is a bit of a waste. Esp if you intend to snorkel as well.

I was told that March to May is the best season for diving but conditions do change depending on which island you are one whether you are staying East or West side as the wind blows from diff directions depending on time of year.

Some beaches had seaweeds for approx an hour, before an army of people actually raked them all away!

This book was good and I think there is also a lonely Planet guide.

Good luck!
