Red Sea: Sharm hotels & diving for kids?

Daughter (aged 12) just learnt to dive - hurrah! - and want to take her away in July/Aug for a week for her first warm water experience.

Anyone got any Sharm recommendations which would work well with kids ? - less on the diving, more on the kids facilities and suitability/location with kids, as we would not be diving every day.

I have some reports on diving in Sharm with kids www.bsactravelclub.co.uk/reports and there are some others there too. Look for those flagged with the FF logo ie family friendly. We've been travelling on diving hols with our kids since they learned to dive in 2002 aged 10 and 12. Mine actually did their o/w elements in Sharm and have been back several times since.

I can definitely recommend the Renaissance Golden View (very large rooms and you can upgrade to a family suite for $25 per night which gives even more space - very well worth it; also the Movenpick, the Ritz Carlton (if you're flush!! :) ), The Hilton Waterfalls, The Marriott in Naama, the Sonesta Club. The advantage of these "big" name hotels is that you are more likely to get a room that sleeps 3 or 4. Otherwise not so many do (at least not in comfort).
All of the ones I mention have lots of facilities, activity programmes, and the chance for your daughter to meet other kids. You will be surprised at how many other kids are there diving - it's ideal for them out there.

Anyway, hope you have an absolutely magic time with your daughter and it's the start of many a great family diving holiday.

Can recommend the Sonesta Club and Hotel Tropitel (Naama Bay, both have small Water parks with slides and there is a Water park near by (free entry if you are in the Hilton Dreams.
