Any ideas where we can go in July/August where it won'r be too hot, good diving but also stuff to do for a non-diver and a baby (18 months old)

We have dived in Lanzarote a few times, now looking for somewhere else to try...

Tracey,
In the Med, try Malta/Gozo, Cyprus, Majorca. Further afield, Florida is good - unbeatable really - for a family holiday - stay around Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach or in the Upper Keys. The diving is very accessible - some shore diving but short boat trips anyway and theres plenty to do on the land. Plus the food and lodging standards are superb - better than most of Europe. Later in August is a reasonable time because the US schools go back earlier than the UK ones. Also, many resort hotels in the Caribbean are very reasonable at this time of year because its the "off" season ie some rain mainly in the evenings. Look at either self catering or a "club" style hotel where they have lots of activities for all ages and some baby friendly facilities. In the Med, there are a range of clubs run by Mark Warner that are really good for families with small children who want an active style holiday. In the Caribbean, look at Breezes who are also along the same lines.
Don't be afraid to take them long distance at this age - they take to the flight much better than you would imagine and seem to bounce back from it quicker than you will - no mental appreciation of the time difference I suppose.
Hope this helps.

Try Alcudia Majorca and use Iberostar hotels. In fact they have Iberostar in many parts of the world. Thomas Cooke/JMC are the only people who I know you can book through and they are BRILLIANT hotels and family friendly. Look at hotel reviews and they constantly say that you never get a complaint about an Iberostar Hotel, I've never seen one and never heard anyone complain at the hotels we've stayed in. We've been loads of times and can't fault them. They specialise with hotels ON THE BEACH and I mean on the beach. You can book direct with them but they only do that last minute because they want to give the travel companies time to sell them. You can usually get booked in May for August, but you risk being disappointed, we have been.
