Is it just me or has anyone else had problems with this service
My compass lost some of its fluid so been Oceanic I thought I would complete the form on their website and ask for a replacement.

The form is a PDF so you cannot just fill it in and email it to them, not very helpful but I found a software solution and completed the form.

The email bounced due to an invalid address, I had to email the states to get the correct address for the UK. They did reply, “email address was changed from the advertised to stop spam”

Yes that will work every time.

Final reply equipment not registered so no replacement, I can’t remember if I filled out a guarantee registration as I have had the compass some time, but I am methodical, and if it was supplied with one I would have done so.

Suggest anyone buying Oceanic equipment not only complete the paperwork but photo copy it and keep it safe. Personally I will avoid their kit in the future

Am always sceptical about lifetime guarantees, there is always some small print... tried it with my marriage, and it seemed my ex had some small print that I was not aware of!

My wife and I started diving over 2 years ago and bought full Oceanic kit from our local dive shop, and they did all the registration for us. Since then Oceanic has replaced our SWIV consoles a total of 5 times almost without question. 4 times the pressure gauge started rusting internally (once after just 5 days of diving in the Red Sea !!), and once the compass came off its pivot. Our dive buddy who bought his kit at the same time also had his console replaced once !!! Allegedly they did ask our lds what we were doing to them as ours seemed to be the only ones they were repairing, though how true this is I do not know. We do a lot of UK diving from a RIB so paranoia did kick in and we are very careful to make sure all the gear is stowed as safely as possible. Would be interesting to know if anyone else has returned consoles due to rusting.

Have to say did get frustrated with having to take the gauge back so often that I also have a Suunto console now which I use, and touch wood have not had any problems with it.

Oceanic's proviso is that you must get kit serviced on a yearly basis for the guarantee to be valid, which we have done thus far, and have never had a problem with the regs, not a single free flow, so wouldn't hesitate to recommend that. As Trevor says, just make sure you have all the valid paper work and you will be fine.

Interesting you would not normally take a compass for sevice.

Just had a contents gauge swivel fail just after service, but it was Apeks
the dive shop replaced it FOC while I waited and said it was badly worn.

In answer to why dont you change them on service, its not a service replacement item, confirmed by Apeks.

I think I will ask for them to be replaced every service they cant cost much
