I have recently been given an old Mares D12 Voltrex reg from someone who no longer dives.
I know for a fact it has been sat in a bag in a loft since 2001 when it was last serviced.

It looks in reasonably good nic (on outside)

On the assumption that it is properly serviced and comes back fine (although I have hear this reg is discontinued so parts could be a prob) I would like to know if anyone has any experience using/still uses this set and if it is any good? as I cannot find much information on it.

I am new to diving (50 dives) and generally dive on holiday in warmer water (Red sea/Caribbean type) might also try UK summer conditions. I do not currently own my own equipment, but I am in the process of thing of making that step therefore this equipment could either form a part of this or a backup set.

Any feedback would be most helpful

I have had an MR12 Voltrex for many years. It's a good regulator, but mostly I use another regulator as it only has one HP port, and I use an air integrated computer.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting it serviced, but Mares are more expensive to service than most other regs. If you are doing cold water diving there is a cold water kit for it, but that might be more difficult to obtain.h
