Worth a dive?? Wrecks or reefs, or wrecks AND reefs? Mostly shore diving? Or with day-boats? Decent night-life? Eateries and pubs? Honest opinions sought - good and bad!

Cheers,
Bren.

Not actually been to taba heights, but have been to hilton coral hotel which is situated a few miles up the road.
Diving was great, mainly shore, did get on one boat trip, but
did not travel far. night life was only on the complex, not much else about. We went in january the waether was about 28 degress, water was fine about 24.
we paid ?399 FOR TWO WEEKS A/I which is not bad. There is now flights into taba which make it less of a journey to the hotel.
we are going again in jan next year and were thinking of trying taba heights. so let me know how you go on.

Hi Ian,

After reading your quick sit-rep on Taba (thanks for that btw), and then having it corroborated by a ruck of others, and finding that there are no wrecks there (each to their own), I rather think, beautifully scenic underwater with superb hotels as it may be, that I'll be leaving Taba alone until such time as I've exhausted every wreck in the Red Sea first....and then I'll go back Oman and dive the Arabian Sea, and then the Yemeni coast and then....you get my drift.

Whilst I'm also a great fan of the sea-life there, a Red Sea holiday without diving one wreck, to me at least, is about as much use as a one-armed paper-hanger-decorator with crabs! ;-)

I've copied a link here with some of the info I managed to get else where. Hope it helps mate and dive safe.

Cheers,
Bren.

went to taba last september for 2 weeks tried to organize diving via the hilton hotel there, they got the dates wrong twice and seemed totally uniterested so i didnt end up diving there, there aint much to do in taba itself but eilat is really close and has much better diving and facilities and is well worth a visit you can dive with dolphins at one place which is very well run and worth the money
