Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone has taken their own equipment into cuba to dive with.
I've heard that it can be a general hassle getting through customs, and i was wondering if it is worth the added hassle of taking my own regs, shorty and BC into the country, or if i should just use the ones there.
thanks,
Roger

PS: Take shedloads of single dollar bills for tips, you'll need
them.

I was there a couple of years ago.
The only customs hassle is the wait in the queue. The Lord of the Rings trilogy, 14 volumes of Proust and the complete works of Shakespeare will provide a measure of relief.
Get down to Trinidad on the south coast if you can - good (not brilliant) diving, but nightlife (Casa de la Musica in particular) the best I have spent in a long time.
I had no problem with renting basic equipment, and wouldn't lug all mine out unless I was twin tanking (careful with that spelling) every day, but quite accept if you want your own regs/essentials.
