Have they got a website? The link I found to it appeared to be disabled...

Anyone know what the viz is like there nowadays. I have not been since it first opened by the original owners.

Could do with something for training a bit nearer home.

My experience is that it is very good until a whole load of trainees get in - at which point it quickly deteriorates!!! :) Great place though, glad it has reopened. Deserves to be much better used.

If you go there, then a quick report wouldn't go amiss.

I presume they still have the same things to see (junk, reliant robin etc)

You have to be careful when the website says the viz is really good but they tend to improve it. I have a feeling that the viz problem was the thing that stopped the site being more popular.

I'll definately post a report when I've been, however I dont know how much use the vis report will be as I am a snorkeller not a diver. I'll be able to let you know about the first 7 metres or so, but below there I wont be able to comment

Nearly everything has changed now, only the swim through pipe is the same in the North East Corner. There are 2 cabin cruiser wrecks, a 25ft swim through container, platforms, an ex-military Puma helicopter and other bits and bobs, and fair bit more to follow so I’m told.
The depth is around 13.5 to 14 metres at the moment, and the visibility is substantially improved since the previous owner owing to the fact that they have protected the banks with nearly 900 ton of gravel and rubble. Quite right though, the site suffers if you get numptys crawling along the bottom but viz at the moment can be upwards of 7 metres. The site owner said he had it at 15metres at one point earlier this year. What is interesting though is that they are attempting a long-term pumping plan to remove the silt from the bottom.
They also do weekday diving now as I went during the week, but he did say it is wise to check someone will be there as he alters his timings at the moment depending on what people want. e.g. night dives etc.

Hope this helps
