I would be very grateful if anyone who has stayed at the Karhamanna Hotel at Marsa Alam and has dived recently with Emperor divers there could give me any "top tips" regarding dive sites/ hotel info/shops / food etc.

Hi Ben,

Never stayed at this hotel, only seen it from the outside. Like most of Marsa and surrounding area, no night life outside hotel, no shops etc. I guess the food is typical Red Sea hotel fayre - buffet style throughout.

Emporer Divers have a good reputation and no doubt will give you good dive sites depending on currents, weather and experience. Elphinstone Reef is a must do site - I think minimum qualification is BSAC Sports. Last October experienced White Tipped Ocean Shark there, and Hammerheads, Dolphin and Mantas are regular visitors in season.

Other than that, any dive in that area should blow your mind.
