Could anyone give me any advice for diving in the red sea please. Just passed ocean diver course and really want to get out there this summer, basically looking to go for 7 days and just want to get some quality diving in, with experienced people as i am still fairly inexperienced myself, thanks rich

It all depends on who you are going with, if your on your own I would recommend a liveaboard, if you have family members a holtel would be your best bet. A liveaboard will give you a lot more diving than shore based, they may seem a little expensive at first but everything is included except your beer which will be extra on lots of boats soft drinks are included, if they are not look for the ones which are. Also I am not sure what depth you are certified to go to but if you are certified to 30m you would get a lot more out of it, although there is more to see within 20m, but a wreck like Thistlegorm would be best if you could see most of it. As for operators I have been with Tony Backhurst a few times and 90% of clients are from UK so no language barriers and I have met lots of nice people from the newly qualified to experienced divers.

Hello Richard
May i suggest that you have a look at the'where' section on this very forum. Egypt, BSAC Schools such as Camel club etc will have all you are looking for.
Go do it before its to late and with a BSAC School who could ask for more eh
Enjoy and Keep on Divin'

Hi Rich,
If you are going on you're own then I suggest you book on a liveaboard as these get you to the better areas away from the crowds. Prices can be good for example I paid 750 UK pounds for a weeks liveaboard which included flights, food, soft drinks and air!! They always have a Dive Master onboard who can match you up with an experienced guy or they may be able to buddy up with you themselves.
Shore based Red Sea is good too although in my experience the diving quality is not as good. The day boats also have an experienced Dive Master/Instructor onboard as well so no worries there!
You can also book a mini safari which is normally 3 days long, maybe you could combine a mini safari and a shore holiday??
One of my best trips is a Red Sea liveaboard!
I was on the El Waseem out of Hurgarda.
Enjoy.........im jealous!!!!
Scott.

As an Ocean Diver, you are limited to a max depth of 20 mtrs. Until you qualify as 'Sports Diver' I would suggest you stick with day boats, based at any of the Red Sea resorts. Otherwise you might find your diving a bit restricted. There is plenty of very good diving at up to 20 mtrs from Hurghada and Sharm el Sheihk. Great to build up your experience. Make sure that you do a night dive!
See a related thread on this forum.
There are some great late offers about at present. I have dived with Emporer, Red Sea College and OPcean College and been very happy.
Enjoy

Tony
