Manta Point Ao Nang Dive Center is looking for keen workers for the summer. Divers who want to be trained up to Dive Master will be considered. It's low season, so living costs are cheap! We are a BSAC Resort facility too.

Hi there,

We're doing fine for staff right now. Work in Thailand can be hard to get at first, especially with little experience. Most DMs have to freelance. Thailand is still a fairly cheap place to live so it's still a popular place to come to for a season. Good luck.

What about the visa situation? Have they cracked down on that now or do most people still generally ignore it?
If someone does decide to get one is it nigh on impossible now?

The summer work basically means you pay for your internship with your time and effort. DMT = customer. Visas are never a problem when you know what to do, or you have a company who can supply the right referrences for the embassy. Now we require permanent staff and they shall be formally put onto the company according to Thai employment law and we shall provide the necessary paperwork for the non imigration B visa. Even tourist visas can be had for 90 days and longer.

True to say, many companies out here use freelancing western dive guides, because work permits are only available to instructors and above. It's sad but many western divers want to see a western DM and not a Thai. I hear it all the time. So DMs and others coming out here to "work" know the risks, I'm sure there's plenty reading this who done it all before and know what I'm talking about.
