Operation Wallacea run scientific research expeditions, we have 7 sites across the world including Cuba. We run BSAC dive training throughout the summer in Cuba. We have two positions for BSAC dive instructors available for this summer.
Operation Wallacea is currently working with the University of Havana Centre for marine research to developed an annual monitoring programme to asses the quality of Cuban reef. Volunteers from both school groups and universities will be completing one week of BSAC Ocean Diver before helping with the research.
There are two Instructor Positions available for 7 weeks from the 11 July to the 28 August. The instructors will be paid £105 Per week and all food and accommodation will be covered, The Duties are as follows:
To train new divers to achieve the BSAC Ocean Diver qualification and in other BSAC courses as required.
To provide cover as required on Research Diving, Pleasure Diving and snorkelling projects as directed by the Dive Operations Manager .
To ensure that all dive teams for which you are responsible conform fully with the dive safety and operating procedures on site and within BSAC standards.
To ensure that all paperwork is fully completed, especially Student Record Files, and that it complies both with Operation Wallacea and BSAC Standards & Procedures.
To assist with the running of the Dive Operations Centre as required. (I.e. issuing equipment, monitoring the radio, etc).
To carry out such other duties as may from time to time be required for the efficient operation of the Marine Centre.
To spend time with guests and volunteers and ensure that they are well looked after.
