Hi
There is mergulho mania www.mergulhomania.com on the costa verde. One of their favorites is the U-1277. Sunk by its own crew that had had enough and surrendered to the neutral Portuguese. It is upright in 32msw half covered in sand and mainly intact. It does have monofilament netting in places.

If you type U 1277 into youtube there are 3 or 4 not brilliant videos that should give you a feel.
We have organized trips there in the past, its a 2 hour drive from us.

probably 3 hours from Lisboa.

A lot of Portuguese clubs come up to Galicia to dive. I will ask around for you.

In the meanwhile here is a list of clubs and centerers.
http://centros.forum-mergulho.com/

type in "mergulho+portugal" into google and you get 3 or 4 pages worth.

Happy diving.

Chris

Hello,

I've been diving in Cascais a year ago with Exclusive Divers. http://www.exclusive-divers.net/totalengl.html
The owner's name Fabian, he is German and speaks perfect English which is rare in Portugal. There is a wreck just off the bay of Cascais at about 28 meters. Visibility may vary from 10m to nearly zero, depends how lucky you are with weather.

Overall diving quality in Cascais is quite average. There is Berlenga marine reserve in the north of the country near Peniche. There sea life and visi is much better. I recommend to go there for a day if you have a chance.

We dived there last year, from the Marina. Its not exactly brilliant but we had a couple of decent dives. The outfit we used were great and the rental kit OK too.
