I will be diving in the Arctic in June and would appreciate suggestions/advices regarding gears, safety, underwater photographic issues, etc.

Thanks and regards,

BJ

Hi Bj
We have an information page here

http://www.bsactravelclub.co.uk/where/arcticant.htm
also with links to articles on diving in the Arctic.

We also have a trip report on ice diving in Tignes which might be of some interest

http://www.bsactravelclub.co.uk/reports/tignes.htm

I'm sure that I've seen someone on these forums posting about ice diving but I can't find the post now. It might be worth posting a message entitled "Ice Diving HELP and ADVICE" in this General Forum and also the Diving Overseas forum to see if it will catch someone's eye.
Otherwise, could well be worth messaging a forum member called John Bantin who quite possibly has photography under ice experience.
Would love to have a trip report from you for our collection when you come back.
Allie

Hi Bungee,

You might want to have a read of Nigel's Ice Diving SDC report (http://www.bsac.org/page/844/personal-feedback.htm). I instructed that event, and helped write the course. If there's anything I can help with, please get in touch - I'm afraid I can only tell you about ice diving in freshwater, but am in touch with a few former SDC attendees who have dived icebergs in New Foundland if that would help?

Are you defintely ice diving? I went on a trip from Tromso to Kirkenes a few years back and it was like a cold UK dive (7 or 8 degrees). The only ice was in my gin.
