A group of us from a university dive club are looking to book a club trip on a red sea liveaboard for next summer. Does anyone have any suggestions good/bad advice about any of these boats and the trips that areavailable. Looking at various websites, we have seen that a number of boats offer similar deals, but pricesandstandards vary. We are looking for a fairly inexpensive trip but we would also like a comfortable enjoyable holiday. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Katharine,

I have just organised a trip for 18 club members on MV Cyclone with Tony Backhurst Scuba Ltd we travel on the 20th October 2002 for a weeks wreck tour with Peter Collings (Wreck expert) aboard.

With the group discount the indivudual cost came down to ?805.50 each. If this seems alot one member travelling with me has earlier this year come back from a shore based holiday in the red sea which cost her over ?700 after she had to budget for all meals, drinks inc water and diving.

The only extras on our trip will be alcohol all meals, soft drinks, water and up to four dives a day provided. If you get some duty free at thr airport your mixers are free onboard.
But obviously take care, drinking heavily and diving don't mix.

Contact Tony Backhurst ADs in all mags, they are vert helpful
Will let you know how it goes

We did a trip on the Miss Nouran in the Northern Red Sea. We did seven wrecks and a quite a few reefs. Our captain and guide were very accomodating and let us do the dives we wanted to do. We were the first boat onto the Thistlegorm (crowds, what crowds) The boat/food/crew were excellent.

I booked through 'diving world'. No real problems. I paid the money, they gave me a holiday. No more, no less.

Check out 'crusader travel' too. They sometimes have some keen pricing
