Wow, you must have a big pair of speedo's to wear that many qualification badges on them :p

Seriously though, the designs are quite good, sometimes I think its a shame we stopped giving them out for SDC's as they can't have cost any more than 50p to make

I want an old "Third Class Diver" sew on.

Yes, I know I never earned it but it would be such fun.

I have one - sewn onto my "Dive hat"

I also have a Second Class (and First Class) sew on badges... and I earned them all

Real collectors items these days!

How much are you prepared to pay ?Sadly not much.

It's like car number plates.
I think that having my old ham radio callsign on my car would be worth about £20 for the joke value.
I'll pay that for something that amuses me but is otherwize useless (http://www.mindgamesdirect.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=22).
The Licencing people think it's worth £500.
Like who else in the world wants G8JFT?

In that case I will keep it along with my logbook that measures

4 3/8" X 3 1/8" with it's Snorkel Diver qualification

Jealous... Trumps my new-fangled freediving card. :D

My brother carefully obtained my mother's old pilot's log book dating from the late 1940s. It makes any 'today' flying look a bit minor.
I came into scuba accidentally on an archaeology trip to the Orkneys. My addiction to the old and offbeat has been a bit of a problem at times but, since I'm getting to be old and offbeat myself, I'm quite relaxed with it.

I wonder how long before someone starts selling pre stamped qualification books? Become a BSAC DL instantly, gain the body bag qualification shortly afterwards.

Nobody takes badges seriously.

I have a Russian Rebreather Diver badge glued on my drysuit.
It helps seal the hole the mice made.

I also have a Russian Rebreather but that's another matter.

Going back to the statment "who takes the badges seriously"

Well, only last week I was on a family holiday in a warm and tropical climate, and I went to book my obligatory sneeky dive. As I expected I was asked to produce my qualifications or should I say I was asked for my certification (no problems there), to which I handed them the wallet which contains my qualifaction book (the older Blue style) and also a number of the aforementioned badges.

The dive guide, took a look at the badges and NOT my qualification book and said "Your more qualified than me" and handed me the wallet back WITHOUT checking my qualification book.

Yes it was a scary moment

Bravely I did arrange to do two days diving with the dive centre, however given there performance on day 1, my instincts for self preservation took over and day 2 was cancelled.

If you wish to know more, please pm me as I don't want to publish names and locations etc on an open forum.
