View Full Version : undersuit advice
Hi All,
I've just brought a northern diver crushed neoprene drysuit and am looking for a lightweight/thermal undersuit. Does anyone have any suggestions with regard to brand, and sourcing.
thanks

Crushed neos tend to have less free space than membranes so you might not be able to wear one of the quilted style undersuits regardless of how good they are for other people.
My prefered trick would be to borrow one from a mate for a quick put it on/take it off and then you have a measure of something so you can judge others against it (thicker/thinner) knowing which way you want to go.

Do what Nigel says, and then if you find you have got room for a big fluffy undersuit then I suggest you go for it. I've got a Weezle Extreme and its amazing - this weekend I was perfectly happy diving with only my weezle, shorts and thin tee-shirt under my drysuit.
Another brand which produces identical, but cheaper, suits to the Weezle is Cygnet. (Cygnet is distributed by Seeman Sub.)
As for sourcing: Weezle and Cygnet only sell through local dive shops, although Weezle have also been selling off some suits on ebay which were produced in non-standard colours for a bulk order. (Just checked - they're on there now.)
Alternatively, Google 'Weezle' and 'Seemann Sub Cygnet' to find their websites with lists of retailers.
Thanks all.
I used the drysuit with some standard thermals and a sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms a couple of weeks ago, so a padded undersuit is definitely out as there isn't the room.

Hi Vincent,
I have a ND Divemaster crushed neoprene drysuit and have purchased the long sleeved top, Bottoms and the socks from here: http://www.xcelcius.com/uk/acatalog/megatherm.php
On the web site they only show 'white' as the colour, but I telephoned them and the young lady I spoke to had my order changed to 'navy', so got what I wanted.
I have worn it in 7/8 deg without any problems, I was warm as toast as they say.
regards
Hamish
I do know that C-Bear http://www.c-bear.co.uk/index.html designed an undersuit specifically for diving underneath a neoprene drysuit. It was glossy on the outside to make sliding into your suit so much easier, and warm and fluffy on the inside. I don't know much more about this suit, so I would suggest that you drop Caroline at C-Bear an email and ask her for the technical specs.
