View Full Version : Marking new Equipment
Good afternoon all.
After putting it off for nearly 10 years, I finally purchased my own kit for diving.
I would like to mark it in some way, to make it easiely identifiable when doing boat or group dives. ie Mark my BC in some way.
What is the best way to do this?
Cheers
Aaron
Hi Aaron,
I just use a 'laundry' marker, like the one your mum used to write your name in your PE kit :) Works a treat and costs about £1 from WHSmiths etc
"ID My Gear" http://www.deepbluedive.com/product.aspx?id=11629 works at treat. A little bottle of brightly coloured tough, water-based, non toxic, high polymer which is visible on a colour contrasting surface. I came across this stuff in the States and now many UK shops stock it, and the company also exhibits at the Dive Shows. I don't know if they are coming to London or not.
ID My Gear comes in easy to apply squeeze applicator bottles and may be applied to all suitable clean, dry, non-lubricating surfaces. Once thoroughly dry (72 hours) the product becomes impervious to water, abrasion and fade resistant.
Colours include Yellow, Orange, Pink, Green, Purple, Blue, Black, Silver,White
I think it costs about £10.00 per bottle. V. useful for writing in names, numbers etc.

Have you used the ID MY GEAR stuff? I was tempted by it myself but have seen bad reviews from it on some sites, peels off easily etc

I used tyre paint on my DSMBs and things. Worked nicely.
DAN Europe do some flourescent tags that have your medical/DAN insurance details on them that I use. They also do gear tags.
https://www.daneurope.org/eng/english_.htm and look for DAN tag
Just checked, and the gear tags are $19 for a set of 5, but will take up to 6 weeks to ship from the USA
