Going to El Gouna next month anybody got any info on the diving.

Hi Taz I went to El Gouna a few years ago the place is nice although a bit plastic the diving we did was on the nothern hurghada sites as it was a bit windy to get out to the wrecks we did get up to dolphin house reef and dived with 2 dolphins for an hour which was fantastic, we dived with tgi diving who are in the Sheraton miramar hotel, very good set up and nice boat if you want any more info drop me an email <a href="mailto:dcolley@bsac18.co.uk">dcolley@bsac18.co.uk</a> cheers Dave

Went to El Gouna last April (2005) in a word wonderful, My buddy and I are unfortuante enough not to have diving wives so had to find somewhere they could laze in the sun while we did our thing. In fairness it wasmy first trip to the red sea so have no doubt anywhere would have seemed wonderful.

The resort is 'plastic' there is little of the real eygpt to see but then I wasn't there for the culture, that will be anothertime. The resort is spotless, locals friendly and facilities excellent. The local dive centre is the Dive Tribe and the staff are enthusiastic and friendly there. We suffered from a prevailing wind which meant we were unable to visit any wrecks but the truth is that all the liveaboards were also diving the sites we went to and therefore we have to assume that we would have been no better off anywhere else.

The dives were wonderful very scenic and well briefed. On one occassion we encountered a current that took us a bit by surprise but all was well. Dolphins were a plenty together with every other encounter you could hope to meet except sharks

I would recommend this resort to anyone who was looking for easy diving in friendly competent hands, with the luxury of good hotels and food. Only tip I can give you is have plenty of small notes on you as you will find friends for life if you give small tips!
