Hi there, I Have a set of Cyclons that have recently been serviced(october time). Today while kitting up I could hear my first stage hissing slightly, this stopped when I purged them, only to start again after 10 seconds or so. It wasnt gushing out, just a slow leak. Ive done about 30 dives since the service. Anyone know why this could be happening, and should I take them back to my LDS to get them rechecked??

Thanks for any replies,

RoY.;)

Hi Biglicker,
Not sure, but sounds like an O-ring's not seated properly. I don't get any hissing with my Cyklon first stage. In any case, for my peace of mind, I'd want it checked out. Take it back to the LDS.

Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like its overtuned..

take the hose off the second stage and look inside...there is a slotted screw slot.

now undo the round end that holds the diaphram...

holding the reg so the needle is upward and using a slotted screwdriver turn the screw so that the needle drops down very slightly...reassemble and test.

Cyclon 5000s run a high intermediate pressure, 12 - 14 bar if I remeber correctly. The first stage seat tends to embed especialy after it has been replaced, In my experience they need to be left for 24hrs on a tank under pressure before final setting of the intermediate pressure.

I would put a test gauge on the intermediate pressure, you might find it creeps up higher than 14 bar, if this is the case it won't matter what you do to the second stage adjustment it will still leak therefore you will need to adjust the intermediate pressure down to 14 bar. If the intermediate pressure is correct then adjust the second stage to suit.

Sometimes the first stage valve seat has been marked during assembly or damaged by use or contamination, this will cause the intermediate pressure to creep due to gas bleeding past the 1st stage. The way to check this is again by putting a test gauge on an intermediate hose, if the pressure continues to slowly rise above 14 bar then you need to replace the first stage seat.

Unless you really know what your doing I would take your reg to a technician and get it checked out.
