Just a cautionary note to check out -- I have recently had a mail from Easy Jet that they have taken over GB airways who run the Malta flights for Britsh Airways, BA baggage allowance is 23kg+=23kg 'sports allowance' Easy jet allowance could be an awful lot lower so worth checking out before you book !!:confused:

BA have kept their allowance and flights but GB airways have been sold to Easyjet and yes the luggage restrictions are going to the same - the entire operation is expected to be fully branded etc by about then.

So instead of unlimited hand luggage, 23kg hold plus 23kg sporting gear (was 32kg earlier this year) you'll get 20kg allowance.

HOWEVER on their site it mentions sporting goods as:

Sporting equipment

Each passenger is allowed a maximum combined hold baggage weight of 50kg including any sports equipment, subject to available space. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32kg.

Unfortunately they don't class scuba gear as sporting equipment and have said its liable to be charged as normal excess at £5/kilo advance or £10/kilo at the airport. Ridiculous and makes them not worth using at all with this policy.

I've used BA/GB a lot lately entirely due to the luggage allowance however the drastic cut in allowance by easyjet and their refusal to class diving gear as sporting goods makes it uneconomical to consider them any more.
