Cozumel BSAC Dive Centres

Me and my girlfriend are off to Cozumel in a couple of months and are hoping to do some dives. I have my ocean diver qualification, however my girlfriend still has her open water dives left to do. The catch is that she is currently in Houston with work until we go holiday, and there arent any BSAC clubs / schools in Houston nor Cozumel. Does anyone know of anywhere in Cozumel which will complete her Ocean diver, or alternatively whether a PADI certified school will allow her to dive with an instructor? Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Andy
There are three options I can suggest:
1. Your girlfriend could contact our USA school which is in the Upper Keys in Florida - Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort. They could complete her open water dives over a weekend. (Amy is a fully legal wedding officiate too ;) )
2. Otherwise it is going to be a problem. There are no BSAC schools in Cozumel. You don't want to take the risk of getting there and then she has to start from scratch with a PADI or SSI operator whilst on holiday. I think if I were her and a quick weekend in FLorida is out of the question, I would go into a local (Houston) dive store, explain her situation and see what they can offer. Obviously it is going to be something that ends in a PADI, NAUI, SSI cert. But, you will be able to dive on holiday for sure. Like all things, it will come down to personalities in the dive store, so she should shop around. Plus, she can always convert the qualification back to BSAC when she comes home if she wants to.
3. Rather than just turn up in Cozumel, call some operators ahead of time and try and get it sorted before you get there - at least know the worst.

I'm sure you know that much of the diving in Cozumel is drift diving ie diving in current. Might be a good idea to get a bit of practice in that before you go.
